Users review: I went to the cinema preview with my friend for this movie, and its even better than the first film! I only saw the first film recently, and I really liked it. I wasnt sure I wanted to go and see the film at first, but my mate wanted me to go and see the preview yesterday with him, and reluctantly, I said yes. Usually, the second films arent better than the first, but boy was I wrong! I was laughing through out the whole film, and so was everyone in the audience, it was full to! Steve Carrells character, Gru, was hilarious. I think everyone could agree though, the minions were the best characters in the film. My friend told me the directors made up a little language and did the voices, and I was very impressed, for you could hear a hint of English in every word they said. So, if you have seen the first film and liked it, dont hesitate to go and see it when it officially come out on the 28th June. And if you havent seen the first film, why not? |

Users review: Non-Stop is an action mystery thriller starring Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore and is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown, Orphan). The story takes place 30,000 feet above the Atlantic Ocean inside of a plane traveling from New York to London. Bill (Liam Neeson) is a Federal Air Marshall with a troubled past. He is assigned to accompany the international flight when things take a turn for the worst and there is an apparent hijacking of the plane. The catch: Bill is being framed. Dont worry though, I havent spoiled anything you couldnt find in the trailer already. But, while it might sound like you have heard this plot 100 times before just in different settings, you may be in fact incorrect.Overall, I actually quite enjoyed this movie, which is not something I was so sure about when I went into it. This movie keeps audiences guessing throughout and is almost like Whodunit on a plane. This carries the movie well, advancing the plot and allowing audiences to discover new leads alongside of Bill. You cannot assume anything with Non-Stop. It does a great job of building tensions and increasing anxiety as the minutes tick by, and as with any mystery you are never sure what is around the next corner.With better than expected plot and better than expected technical prowess, Non-Stop is a great movie for action fans who want something a little bit more!If you want to read my longer review see it at: http://movieview.org/non-stop-jaume-collet-serra-2014/ |

Users review: Ill be honest here. I wasnt a big fan of 300. The script was pretty basic but what worked was the production values, the action, casting and .. the dialogues. That it what made it the moderate entertainer that it was.Now comes the sorry sequel. Here youll find a short list of things that make this movie un-watchable --The story- Its like 300 all over again, minus the intensity and masculinity. Its terrible. There is no innovation , clearly the writer and director were short of any inspiration that could make the story adequately satisfying on any level. There was a kind of side story involving a father and son which was probably the worst part of this distasteful movie. By the end , i didnt care what happened to anybody as long as it happened quickly .0/10The dialogues- So amateur, so freaking juvenile. Probably due to absence of script, the actors (oh the wretched actors!, will come to that later) were made to improvise and blurt whatever seems to be right-ish.Example-Warrior: There will be death and destruction!Themistocles: Yes... (long pause) Themistocles: There will be.And not to forget ,SEIZE THE GLORY!!. 0/10The casting- The actors ,all of them, even Queen Cercei, were just going through the motions. The lead guy was seriously miscast. He tried to pull a Butler, but failed...epically. Eva Green tried to do what she could with what she had, but she never had enough. Her scenes became monotonous after a while. The side actors could easily have been crew members who were given roles just to get on with this crap-fest. The only strong character , i.e Xerxes was given about 6 minutes of screen time. Its almost as if Zack The Hack Snyder wanted this movie to fail, and fail it did. 2/10 (only for Rodrigo Santoro)The production- Now this is what made the original...well mediocre. I honestly believed that the movie will stand out in this department. Now heres what i observed. Although made on a budget of 100 million, the effects were god-darn terrible. At times it felt like i was watching a TV show. Spartacus has 20 times better production value than this mess of a movie. The battle scenes felt like the opposite of epic. Has this director ever shot any action scene before, let alone a battle! I think not. Ive seen better choreographed fights in Monty Python and the Holy Grail and i believed that about sums it up. 00/10The direction- Probably a first timer, a clueless director just trying to follow a blind mans footsteps. I am not saying that a good director might have been able to pull it off, but this guy just added insult to injury. 0/10.The climax - Dont care. Just Frickin end it and ill be off. 0/10And the absolute worst part-- Theres gonna be another one. When people will forget how bad this was , Mr Snyder will lay another crap on us. YAY!!Dont watch it. Please. Or if youre so darn inclined to punish yourself, id suggest you go easy on yourself and just watch 2 back to back recent Adam Sandler Movies. |

Users review: Well, OK. Read this one.I just caught this film at the 57th San Francisco International Film Festival. It was a last minute addition to the Festival program, and it was probably the best film I saw there (though my attendance this year was, admittedly, limited.) After an evening of seeing two mediocre films, I was seeking out something to end the evening on a high note. Playing at 9:15 was a film entitled The One I Love starring Mark Duplass, Elisabeth Moss and Ted Danson. As there was nothing in the program about the film, I grabbed the ol smart phone and started to do some research. The first thing I found was a plea to STOP reading about the film and JUST GO SEE IT. Needless to say, I found this very intriguing… so I did just that. And I was glad that I did. I will say little about this film and what I do say may not generate any interest in the film for you, but if you like films with terrific performances and an original thought behind them, then consider checking this film out when it plays in your area.Duplass and Moss play a married couple whose relationship has grown stale. Seeking the help of a therapist (Danson, whose on-screen time is probably less than five minutes), they agree to go on a retreat and try to rediscover and reignite the feelings they once had for each other.And thats where I have to stop.Screenwriter Justin Lader was in attendance and had a great Q&A session with SFFS Programmer Rod Armstrong and the audience but I cant even discuss THAT as it too would spoil your complete enjoyment of this film. Hell, I went looking for a trailer to post for the film before I realized that there isnt one because… well, you know what trailers usually do.So take a chance. Resist the urge to figure out what Im NOT trying to say. The One I Love is the kind of movie that can generate hours of post-film discussion, particularly with your significant other. Users review: Going into the movie I knew and liked the Four Seasons music, but was unsure if I would like the movie (it would not have been my first or second pick to go see). However, I was able to see an early viewing of the film and took advantage of it. I must say I LOVED it. It had all of the songs I loved. The film has the right amount of humor when needed. I have not seen the Broadway show version. If you like their music it is worth going just for that as it is a mix of recordings from the Four Seasons and also recordings from the cast. While it is rated R for language, I did not find it excessive. Erich Bergens performance stood out for me. I have never seen a Clint Eastwood film that he has been either a producer or director. I was wary about seeing the film, but must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would Recommend this film |

Users review: What a piece of crap wannabe blockbuster . If it was not by the fact I got free tickets for the premiere, I would be p***ed off to waste my money in vain. Well, my time was wasted anyway...The plot is the epitome of stupidity: shallow characters and a predictable story made me wonder what the director was thinking. The history of Pompeii and its fate was completely ignored (I have visited Pompeii myself) - the tsunami scene was only one of the non sense historical goofs. The movie end is absolutely stupid and I was relieved it finally ended. If you want to waste your time, this is the perfect opportunity. |

Users review: Robin Williams must have signed on this role while 99% intoxicated or else he wouldve have read the script before taking on the role. Right off the bat in the opening scene where his character had a bumper-to-bumper run in with a cab driver, the audience could tell that Williams made no effort to act. Did Williams realize how badly his character was written that he showed up to the set and just winged it? Also, what was Mila Kunis thinking when she was handed this script? If there was a negative 1 rating, this movie suffice. This is absolutely and utterly awful from the very beginning. Why would the people in Hollywood make such a movie? These Hollywood executives must have money they dont know how to spend. Whoever directed this movie shouldnt be given another shot to direct. I honestly mean it. It is bad all around. Terrible acting, dreadful dialogs, atrocious plot, just how, how can such a movie get made? What were the producers thinking when they got this script? |

Users review: After seeing RISE on Channel 4 last night I promised myself I wasnt going to waste two hours of my life and money on a bus and cinema ticket to watch a Hollywood blockbuster sequel . Maybe the Summer heat has been frying my brain because I found myself taking a long walk to Edinburgh city centre and spending £8.20 on a ticket to watch DAWN . Perhaps I was trying to teach myself a lesson in that I should always stick to gut instinct ? When someone makes a decision they should stick to it otherwise bad things might happen DAWN starts in exactly the same manner as RISE finished . Simian flu sweeps across the world killing billions of humans and this economy of storytelling is very effective indeed . Unfortunately when were introduced to the surviving humans theres been a massive spanner thrown in to the works because theyre all living in a small district of San Francisco . Whats wrong with that you ask ? Common sense should tell you thats the worst place you can stay in after a catastrophe . As John Wyndham and John Christopher point out in their novels a city is nothing more than a concrete desert . Surely theyd be hundreds of thousands of dead bodies in the city ? Wont this lead to all types of secondary diseases ? How you going to farm crops in a city ? I suppose there might be some supplies left but after ten years of industrial collapse people still have access to cigars and cigarettes . Im guessing simian flu only affects non smokers ? Im also guessing youre not supposed to think too deeply about this scenario because it doesnt really hold up to much examination . Characters are shown to having access to military hardware but the military are conspicuous by their absence . This is probably down to plot function . The human survivors need access to a hydro dam just outside the city in order to gain electricity and kick off the plot . The human enclave need electricity in order to power communications to contact other human communities but its impossible to believe that in ten years after the flu outbreak not one single warship has berthed in the docks , or a military plane has landed at the airport or a self sufficient military unit has entered the cityAnother slight problem is that the characters are like in the previous film rather one dimensional and underwritten . Weve got the nice male human character , the nice female human character , the bad ethnic minority human , the good ethnic minority human etc and this is mirrored by the ape community . If youve any knowledge of Soviet history you might just second guess how things pan out in the ape community and its the actors playing the apes in a motion capture suits who make the biggest impression . If youre going to cast Gary Oldman at least give him a part deserving of his talents and have him do something interesting with his character Its a pity the film is let down by a succession of small flaws because I did like it but wanted to love it and the movie doesnt quite pull it off . It is a solid relatively dark blockbuster better than the film that preceded it and better than most Summer fare thats been released over the last few years but dont think its anywhere near deserving of its position of 150 on the IMDb top movies list and feel like the HOBBIT movies will quickly drop out of the list . As it stands the original franchise was probably more enjoyable as a whole due to its imagination |

Users review: 9.5. Id love to give it a 10, but having read the book, I know there were a couple of things they could have done to make it even better. The film was stunning nonetheless.I had very high expectations going in and honestly, from the trailer, I was prepared for a let down. Nothing of the sort. The scenery was breathtaking and captivating, and I felt transported, insulated from the realities of a terrible war in a terrible time by the endearingly human performances of the actors and the depth they lent to their characters.The only complaints I have would be slight spoilers for both the movie and the book and since I highly recommend both, Ill save them.A powerfully emotional treat you wont regret. Go see it! |
