Users review: Immigrant (edition 2013. 95 min), brings the story of a young Polish Ewa (played by Marion Cotillard), who comes with her sickly sister to Ellis Island in January, 1921 with her sister in quarantine, Ewa is about to. either deported until the last minute she gets saved because they look good English language skills Bruno Weiss (played by Joaquin Phoenix). Weiss runs show vaudeville / cabaret of sorts and before long, Ewa is required to participate (or worse). In a parallel story line, we know Orlando magician (played by Jeremy Renner), who also looked at the beautiful Ewa. Let me tell you more of this film, the plot would be hard to ruin your viewing experience, you just have to see for yourself how all play out.Couple comments: first, there I heard about this film, despite its star power, and noticed this when I was in Belgium during a recent visit family. Given the stellar cast and the subject (being a legal immigrant to the U.S. myself), I do not shrink from about beholding these things. Showing high quality indeed abound (Cotillard looks good on her way to becoming a regular in Hollywood), but it seems that this film is a lavish production with a script seriously flawed. There are plot holes the size of Manhattan that you can win if you're in a mood nature. Second, contrary to what is listed here on IMDb and other information sites (such as web Belgian cinemas), the running time of the film is 120 minutes., The fact, they almost anywhere and is something like 95 min. At least the version I saw in Belgium two weeks ago.Bottom line: this movie is worth checking out for acting performances, but I do know that I can recommend is going to spend money that theater. What is of course assuming that this will be even released in theaters in the United States (no sign of that, from now on). If I was probably Id wait for the launch of the DVD / Blu-ray immigrants. |
