Users review: Steven Soderberghs Side Effects begins with the camera zooming in from the streets to the apartment window, and ended up with way back (no, I'm not spoiling anything). In a subtle way, final blow Soderberghs a full circle. Did he really retire from film forever? If so, then we will miss him. He was a filmmaker truly remarkable - and Side Effects in a film that deserves to go out on.Indeed, Side Effects excited pure, as it is marketed. While prescription drugs is a major plot device, the film also deals with psychology, law, uncertainty, social stigma, corporate greed and obsession. Not specifically for all of them, mind you, but subtle enough to get the point through, and do not linger on it a second more. The gripping taut script,, Hitchcockian by Scott Z. Burns exciting twists and turns its way into unexpected plot development, which allows Soderbergh wandering the streets with a camera and flat, creating an atmosphere that 'extraordinarily intense hypnotic pretty unbearable to watch. Jude Law, looking thinner here, by desperate and obsessive too? Physicians who seek the truth pervasively after atrocities committed by patients, Emily (Rooney Mara). This signature is a very good movie. Its one of those movies that, when you start watching, you want to keep watching to see what happens next. Hitchcock himself would smile on this one. As for Soderbergh, it's still a Liberace biopic TV due to release later this year, so hes not done with it yet. But, I sure hope that he will return someday if it decides to do so.
