Users review: Fast & Furious over the last few installments has become all about action. And the latest outing takes it a step further. Almost 20% of the movie is comprised of action sequences. And at the expense of action, plot, writing, characters all take a backseat. But no ones complaining. Why ? Because the action makes up for all of it.Do the above statements sound cliché ??? The movies plot is full of such silly dialogs so its best ignored in the current context. What works is the action - Lin and his crew bring us some of the most ridiculously outrageous and boldly conceived action sequences. Theres an intense chase through London in the initial reels and also a race later on. Theres a whole plane take-off-crash sequence towards the end that youve probably got a glimpse of in the trailers. The girls are no slouches either and we see an intense hand-to-hand fight of sorts between Michelle Rodriguezs Letty and Gina Caranos Riley.But the movies best sequence is undoubtedly the 10 minute Tank chase across the freeway that involves most of the cast and culminates in a breathtaking catch (about which Id not say any further). The camera cuts like crazy, music is pulsating and that single sequence is probably worth the price of the movie ticket.Apart from action, Furious 6 doesnt have much going for it. Dialog is standard, at times even silly and predictable, characters are flat, performances are decent. The car chases and night scenes got me so involved, I actually felt a bit strange leaving the theater and coming out into the real worlds broad daylight. And the post-credits scene is simply, a treat which makes the next installment in the series worth looking forward to. Suffice it to say that in the end, the movie drifts full circle.Watch it for the action, and for the action alone. If you expect any sort of character development or family issues like the first installment had, youll be disappointed. Else, youre in for one hell of a ride.Score: 7 / 10 |

Users review: In my IMDb review of Blood and Bone, I not only top-rated the film (a no-brainer) but pointed out that Michael Jai White was probably the most entertaining action star out there, with split-second moves and a friendly gravitas that lets him connect with the viewer.That second part was clearly NOT a no-brainer, because, other than the IMDb faithful, no one else seems to have caught the hint.Now, a few years later, director Ernie Barbarash, who seems to have had a penchant for working with Van Damme, finally made the smart choice.For all intents and purposes, this could be Whites long-awaited sequel to Blood and Bone. It is a slow-starter but frankly to see White in an action scene is well worth the wait. And the benefit of a slow start is that it builds. Not a lot of films today can claim that.I will close this review with a challenge to anyone in Hollywood with ears to hear and eyes to see. White seems in peak condition but history tells us that he probably has only so many of these films in him before he goes the way of Seagal and starts wearing designer clothes based on tents. Somebody should notice this guy and let him start making the films he was meant to make. |

Users review: A little late with this review. I saw this the weekend it came out but did not have time for a review until now. The worlds end marks the third film in Nick and Simons trilogy. This time around the boys are battling an army of killer robots. Simon and Nick have switched roles for this film in which Simon plays the bumbling idiot. Simon recruits his old high school friends to conquer an epic night of drinking that they failed to do years prior, however now everyone is grown up except for Simons character who still lives in the past. However they soon realize the town has been taken over by a sinister robot army. Basically if you enjoyed either Shaun of the dead or Hot Fuzz you will love this film. Hot Fuzz is my favourite comedy of all time so far, however i would rank this movie right up there with Shaun of the dead. The humour in this film is very subtle compared to their previous two films. They try some new things with this film and the result is a crazy mass effect inspired ending. This is a great film to end the summer, and while it may not be everyones cup of tea, it will surely be a cult classic in time.Rating: 8/10 |

Users review: No one asked for such a film, yet it was produced. Trying to judge the film from serious aspects is doomed to fail. You do not have to be an educated film critic to notice, that this film is completely worthless. Trying to capture the viewer through feces and venereal diseases, is probably the lowest act of directing. In an absurd way it is tried that the audience identifies with the protagonist which fails of course. The strange surreal cutaways, which appear mainly towards the end, make the movie seem even more ridiculous than it already is. My greatest wish, and I hope I will be heard is that we are spared with such nonsense in the future. |

Users review: -Jet Li appeared for 5 minutes total and doesnt even fight (seriously? Feels like he was kept in the movie (top-billed too!) just to lure asians to watch it. Yes Im an Asian.) -Action scenes are a yawn; all the been there done that. No suspense whatsoever; its even worse than a Micheal Bay film. -The climax fight was just 3 minutes tops and was like Stallone wasnt even trying. -PG-13 violence; Christmass knife stabs are now blood-less and bullets are now made of rubber since nobody bleeds or spurts blood after being fired upon by a minigun. Seriously? -The storyline is just a drag and dull; the worst in the series IMO. The young-bloods in this movie are just plain unlikeable, arrogant and disrespectful i.e. One of the young ones (I didnt even bother knowing his character name) screamed at Stallone to shut up. Are these kind of characters the ones were supposed to like?-Banderas was just wasted and everyone hates his character. He was supposed to be comic-relief, but instead hes just annoying. -Talking about comic-relief, the jokes were just bad. I remembered laughing with tears watching EX2; I barely grinned at this. Stallone said he wanted to go back to the dramatic storyline like EX1 and look what happened. Not dramatic and not funny.5/10 P/S: Just dont waste your time. |
